Routine ultrasound scan is the most common scan done in pregnancy. For pregnant mothers, it is a time of extreme joy to see the fetus and hear the heart beats. For the care giver, the scan is used to screening and also to establish date of pregnancy. Routine ultrasound scan is not gestational age bound and rarekly harmful if standard guidelines are employed.
