High Rocks is a ‘one stop’ centre for Fetal Medicine and Genetic Diagnosis services in Nigeria. We offer prenatal fetal screening, diagnosis and treatment services, to the pregnant women, genetic counseling and diagnosis for common genetic disorders.

FETAL MEDICINE

1. Prenatal Screening and diagnosis of single gene defects such as Sickle cell disease
2. Prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal defects such as Down syndrome
3. Screening for preterm birth
4. Screening for pre-ecleampsia in early pregnancy
5. Cogenital infection Screening

PRENATAL SCREENING AND DIAGNOSIS OF COGENITAL MALFORMATIONS (BIRTH DEFECTS)

1. Congenital malformations affects about 2-5% of all pregnancies
2. About 20% of still birth and neonatal deaths in developing countries are due to congenital malformations.
3. Congenital malformations are abnormal physical conditions present at birth and significant enough to be a problem
4. They could be caused by a mix of factors including genetic environmental or combination.
5. In the vast majority, the cause is unknown
6. All pregnancies are at risk of congenital malformation irrespective of background factor such as maternal age or family history.
7. None invasive screening such as anomaly scan, maternal serum biochemistry and nuchal translucency scan should be offered to all pregnancies as screening tool to detect the possibility of congenital malformation.
